Guest Blogger Series: Travel Like a Fashionista This Fall

Just in time for New York Fashion Week we have Elizabeth from Always About the Details as our Guest Blogger!

New York City is one of my favorite places for so many reasons - fashion, food, theater, history, culture, the list goes on. And one of my favorite times to visit is in the fall, when the weather starts to turn. The city can be absolutely brutal in the summer, it’s so hot and humid, but, fall is perfect! The air is cool and crisp, and one can walk around and enjoy the scenery,

Today, I am sharing two fall looks that I shot while on my most recent trip to the city. They are both simple and cozy, but perfect for a day of exploring. When I visit NYC, I always think about being comfortable, because my trips usually involve a good amount of walking, and you want to be prepared.

This first look is a classic fall look – white top and brown boots. There’s nothing I love more than a beautiful, white shirt. I am always on the hunt for a new style, and when I found this one, I had to get it. This top is a “mixed media” top, which means that the front and back are made of two different fabrics, and this is really nice, because it is flattering on many body types. Many shirts, especially tunics, can appear to be very boxy and unflattering on anyone with curves, like me. I love tops like this, because they give me more shape.

This second look is simple black and grey, which are two colors you see if often on New Yorkers. This outfit is perfect for a day around the city, because it is extremely comfortable. Here, I am wearing the best leggings I’ve ever purchased with a nice, light sweater. This sweater is one of my favorites, because the fabric is so soft, and it can be worn with one side off your shoulder a bit, which gives it a more interesting look. You’ll notice this sweater does have more of a boxy feel on me, because the way it hangs, so just keep that in mind. Even so, this is definitely something I will be wearing all season long.

For both of these looks, I wore booties, a fall favorite of mine. With the first, I wore a brown, suede wedge booties, which I just purchased this season. I absolutely love these shoes! They are very comfortable, and give you some height, which I don’t need at 5’11’’, but still enjoy. These booties are available black, as well.

The black bootie is also suede, but it has a block heel. I bought these last winter, and I will continue to wear them throughout this fall and winter, because they are so cute and comfortable. I have worn them for hours while walking around Boston with no issues. Also, these are a great deal at less than $100, and they come in several colors, too.

Both of these looks are now up and shoppable on my blog – Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions regarding fashion or food and activity recommendations in NYC.
